What to wear – Outfit ideas by J Crew

J Crew - Jenna Lyons

Known in Vogue as The First Lady of Cool outfits, Jenna Lyons is the vision and creativity behind the brand loved even by The real First Lady, Michelle Obama. Known for its modern and cool accents, J Crew clothing focuses on all wearable pieces – such as shirts or cotton tops. These may include heels or leather A-line skirts. But some of the casual pieces are now also decorated with sequins, ruffles or silk details. Lovely!

The brand gained popularity when the Obama family members were dressed in J Crew at Inauguration Day, which made sales explode that season. But everything revolves around designer’s opinion, because the brand is currently seen as a reflection of her. Despite this, Jenna says she loves clothes too much to wear only J Crew, so therefore she mixes them surprisingly

The spring – summer 2012 collection brings simple, yet timeless looks: a lot of white, denim, stripes and casual shirts . There are also some accents, as the bold colors and some animal print, but what we like the most is the layering! Shirts worn under thin sweaters or shirts worn with dresses, are the outfits that are perfect for spring. They are flexible in the changeable spring weather as you can always remove one of the pieces.J Crew - Spring / Summer 2012J Crew - Spring / Summer 2012 - Bright colors

Street Style – Best Jackets

Always stylish and timeless pieces in our wardrobes, the jackets are probably the most fashionable pieces borrowed from men’s wardrobes. Yes, there are also the shirts, pants or denim, however, the jackets have always looked more chic on women. Even if we are talking about the classic structural design of the men’s blazer, or the cropped Chanel jacket, the blazer gets an update every season. This is why this piece of clothing will always be desirable.

In terms of patterns and color variations, probably you have done your homework and you already have in wardrobe a black jacket, a nude one, a striped or a sparkly one. For spring 2012, we extend the list so with a lace jacket, a floral or digital print, one neon blazer and a metallic jacket. And to reach number 10 – what about a white jacket and a tweed blazers?

Color Jacket Street Style

Colored jackets are so popular in all the street-style look and we are so tempted to check them out. Wear them with more serious or neutral items such as shirts or basic sweaters. For a statement look, play with prints or accessorize your outfit with another strong color.

More ouftit ideas…

White Jacket Street Style

White blazers are worn very much the same as the black ones: part of elegant outfits. You can either opt for a fitted jacket or a boyfriend one. But the size is an important detail in both: the jacket’s shoulders should follow your body shape perfectly, and as a feminine touch you can slightly roll your sleeves to reveal layered bracelets or a men’s watch. They work perfectly as accessories. Tweed Jacket - Street Style

The lady-like piece of 2012 is definitely the tweed jacket. The style is usually cropped, Chanel-inspired has the power to dress up any outfit, to make it classy and elegant. Certainly, the jacket can be accessorized with pearls or over-sized necklaces for a maximum potential. We like tweed jackets woven with metallic threads, they looks stunning with either leather pants or torn jeans – both skinny and boyfriend.Pattern Jacket

If I had to choose just one of these jackets, without much doubt, I would go for printed jackets. Digital prints, floral, geometric or abstract are more present than ever. You have many inspiration muses from Marni and Mary Katrantzou, but also from the many styles in high-street stores. They look amazing with basic t-shirts, but for a note-worthy look, wear them with another print!

BOLD COLOR Jackets – Wear them all

Color-blocking is big this season! The bright-color machinery has set in motion the most interesting colors for jackets in the spring – summer 2012 collection. You can take the wheel and drive this style or park it for other paler options, the choice is all yours! However, if you decide to take this road, this are our best blazer outfits.

Gear I – Simple

Start with a neon or bold color blazer and then pair it with basic pieces to dress it down. Find classical pieces and soft jewelry to add to the mix, but make sure that the jacket is the center-piece of the outfit.

Gear II – Tonal

Pick a strong color and build an entire look my using many tones of that particular color. Try this first on cooler shades, as these are perfect for the soft spring skin, but you can be bold and go for electric shades when you are summer tan.

Gear III – Dynamic

If you want something more daring, add accessories to your jacket and make it look glamorous. Invest in a cool neon bag or some oversized bracelets and necklaces that have a touch of color.

Gear IV – Competition

Break the beat and clash, by wearing the blazer with another strong color. In this case, anything goes, but don’t overwork the number of colors  – 3 is enough, otherwise you risk having a Christmas outfit. 🙂

Fall Winter Fantasy – Chanel A/W 2012

You might think that we are obsessing over Chanel, because we kept admiring them for a while now, but this time they were just mind-blowing!

Karl does is again and this is how the  A/W 2012-2013 show from Paris Fashion Week manages to become the best-orchestrated fashion event. The scene, which turned into a crystal mine, paraded models wearing amazing metallic outfits, dramatically accessorized. The purple shades – from electric to dark gray tones, were in perfect sync with the crystals that decorate the bracelets, clutches and armor necklaces. Admire them…

Create your own HERMES bag

Olivia Palermo - Croco Leather Clutch

Olivia Palermo – Croco Leather Clutch

The Hermes Jige clutches are smiling to us from many of the popular looks sported by Olivia Palermo and I found out that they are the cheapest Hermes bags out there (~ $ 2,000). Following the exact envelope shape, these cluthes are the perfect investment bag in the wardrobe of any fashion icon. And we don’t say that just because they are cheaper, but because now everyone can have them!

Technically that is true, for the new campaign launched by Hermes features the coolest styles where you can design your own Jige. Just like the old Burda magazines which had paper designs, now you can choose between these green-Jige clutch versions … or you can try designing with pieces of leather/fabric and see how that works.

What do you think? When it comes to hand-made, I think they are the coolest items I’ve seen in a while.

We love.

Paris Fashion Week – A/W 2012-2013 Details

Even if Milan Fashion Week is just over, the fashion calendar has not ended. Paris Fashion Week is now on and this means, getting insights from the most interesting shows of the A/W 2012-2013 season.

Manish Arora – Autum Winter 2012 / 2013

What surprises me most about Manish Arora is how color manages to light up the outfits. Whether through graphical prints or color-block accents, influences are spectacular and unusual, eccentric and exciting.

These are seen at Moschino, Manoush and Mary Katrantzou and the silhouettes are quite versatile: skirts with volume – maxi or midi, are worn with conservative coats in an obvious antithesis with the explosion of prints.

Carven - AW - 2012 / 2013

Carven – A/W – 2012 / 2013

The 2012-2013 Carven collection covers a bourgeois color palette with shades ranging from camel and dark red to black and navy. The outfits are lady-like, sophisticated and a certain decency – we loved the midi skirts, embroidery and velvet, turtle-neck blouses, fur collars or deux-piece’s.

A-line dresses with highlighted waists are also featured in the A/W 2012 Carven collection, but even then, turtlenecks and jackets or vests are covering up any obvious skin sightings. It seems that the mystery is a theme of the fall collections. What is hidden is more interesting to follow and exciting to discover. But that is the whole purpose of seduction, isn’t it?

Nina Ricci - AW - 2012 / 2013

Nina Ricci – Fall/Winter – 2012 / 2013

For the fall collection of 2012, Nina Ricci creates designs that seem to be made to be worn at late hours. A lot of transparency, veil or organza define the sensual silhouettes.

I think this state was induced maily by the black and nude outfits, or by the vintage-erotic mood which they carry.

Peter Copping – the creative director, said he was inspired by the pieces that mothers and grandmothers kept them away from prying eyes, in racks or cabinets. These chests that contained lace and silks that were to be given to daughters as dowry. One thing is certain that the general trend for 2012-2013: proportions are mixed – loose or structured silhouettes, for a choice in and own customization.

Isabel Marant - Fall/Winter - 2012 / 2013

Isabel Marant – Fall/Winter – 2012 / 2013

Isabel Marant didn’t need to show massive changes in the new season, but that’s because once you have positioned the brand as a cool one, it seems that whatever you try, it’s gonna be successful. There were some adaptations of the famous ankle boots, which are now a bit more western and also some cool embroidered romanian blouses.

The idea of broderie anglaise or peasant shirt is a symbol of the season, at Isabel Marant, but also at other designers, as well as many variations of leather pants which are still stron on the runways. It is probably time to give them some rest, as everyone will be wearing them this season! You know what they say “drop it like it’s hot”.

Christian Dior - A/W - 2012 / 2013

Christian Dior – A/W – 2012 / 2013

It seems that Dior manages to rise up to the expectations even led by Bill Gaytten. Building on dusty balet-inspired shades, with accented waists and feminine creations, the current collection sends a strong vibe of modernity.

The fabrics are a mix between transparency and freedom in movement, and powerful fabric such as tweed or leather. I noticed that peplums are still decorating tops or jackets, but I loved that usually the looks have sleeves and the neckline is decent. Even when it comes to dresses, sobriety is the dominant feature.

Balmain - A/W - 2012 / 2013

Balmain – A/W – 2012 / 2013

We knew Balmain was not joking when it comes to autumn – winter, but this collection was truly fascinating! Each dress, jacket and trousers is created at the highest level of craftsmanship.

The luxurious tapestry embroidery, stones and pearls that are decorating the collection, are just spectacular. In terms of silhouettes, the shape is mainly bodycon and tight waist. But some of the looks also featured flared trousers and the new midi length which becomes increasingly vivide in the fall  2012-2013 season.
